Hi All,
I'm sorry for the mass email, but I wanted to let you know about the Online Percussion History and Literature course that is offered by the University of Arizona Outreach College.
To cut to the chase, visit http://www.uapercussion.org
Click on the announcement on the middle of the page to go to an online DEMO SITE for the course. Of course, all of the features aren't active, but you'll get a good idea of the look and feel of the course along with an idea of the depth and breadth of the course.
Please let tell your students/friends/colleagues about the course. They can take it online and transfer the credits back to their school as either an elective or a required course.
More detailed information is below.
Announcing:
Percussion History and Literature course online.
Dates:
Summer Session 1 – June 8
Summer Session 2 – July 13
This course is offered through the Outreach College at the University of Arizona for two units of graduate or upper-divisional credit.
There are six main modules: Background/Essential Information, Instrument Histories, Orchestral Literature, Chamber Literature, Percussion Ensemble Literature, and Solo Literature. The solo literature module is further divided into three sub-units: timpani, keyboard percussion, and multiple percussion.
The course is taught totally online through video lectures, required readings, suggested readings, and listening assignments. Everything you need for the course is available online. All the listening assignments have accompanying scores so that as you experience the piece you can completely familiarize yourself with the repertoire.
Offered during the summer in an 8-week session, it is VERY thorough and without question, after completing the course, you'll have a very complete knowledge of this information.
Take the course online and transfer the credit back to your home college or university.
All assignments and exams are also given online. Discussion groups and online video/audio chat with Dr. Weinberg are available.
To check it out some more, go to http://www.uapercussion.org/ and click the link the middle of the page to go to the demonstration site. There, you'll find some examples of the types of materials included in the course. Of course, it's not entirely active - it's just a demo - but you'll get a good idea of the look and feel of the site and the depth and breadth of the course content.
One more thing - though a special arrangement with the Outreach College - out-of-state students pay the same tuition as in-state students.
Shoot me an email if you want additional information.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer in spreading the word.
All the best,
